Bread-making

Covering DT cooking objectives, design, make and evaluate your own bread roll, whilst learning about the history of milling and bread-making in a watermill.
Typical day:
10.00am – 10.30am – welcome / tour / health and safety
10.30am – 11am – make a simple bread roll
11am – 11.30am – design and make your own bread roll from a selection of ingredients
11.30am – 12noon – Recipe writing
12noon – 12.45pm – lunch
12.45pm – 1.15pm – History of milling
1.15pm – 1.45pm – Eat and evaluate our bread rolls
1.45pm – plenary and walk back to bus
DT Learning objectives:
to prepare dishes (KS1)
to prepare and cook a variety of predominantly savoury dishes using a range of cooking techniques (KS2)
to design, make and evaluate a bread roll (adapted from KS1 and KS2 objectives)
