Learn about renewable energy – make a model waterwheel, solar oven and/or windmill.
Typical day:
10.00am – 10.45am: welcome / health and safety / tour to include hand crank generators and waterwheel.
10.45am – 11.15: make solar ovens; set up data logger to record temperature over the day.
11.15am – 12.15pm: Wind turbine investigation
12.15 – 1pm: lunch to include s’mores cooked over the fire
1pm – 1.30pm: make waterwheels, look at Archimedes Screw Turbines and electricity generation.
1.30pm – 1.45pm: look at solar over data logger results
1.45pm: plenary and walk back to bus
Note that on occasion, one activity may be dropped for this workshop.
