Demonstration of camera obscura
Shiam Wilcox will be attempting to create a camera obscura in Howsham Mill.
This is a natural phenomenon later used by photography. It involves
blanking out light and inserting a tiny hole. Light is projected through
the hole and casts an image of the outside world into the darkened space.
The resulting image though is back to front and upside down, where the light is flipped as it enters the hole. The camera obscura has been used by artists for hundreds of years, and later by photographers through the construction of cameras.
No need to book, all welcome. Free admission.
