As part of the National Mills Weekend, Howsham Mill will be open on Sunday 8 May. This is an opportunity to see how an 18th century watermill has been restored for 21st century use. It is now an education centre and  generates hydro-electricity from two Archimedes Screw turbines and the waterwheel.
