Children use their 5 senses in a range of outdoor activities.

Typical day:

10.00am – 10.45am – welcome / tour / health and safety

10.45am – 11.00am – Identify the parts of the body that we use for each sense.

11.00am – 11.15am – Sight: Colour collecting activity

11.15am – 11.45am – Sound: Sound mapping

11.45am – 1.00pm – lunch to include chocolate bananas cooked over the fire.  Smell: describe the smells (fire, bananas, chocolate).  Taste: Eat our chocolate bananas and describe the taste.

1.00pm – 1.45pm – Touch: Texture hunt.

1.45pm – plenary and walk back to bus

Possible learning objectives:

  • Use all their senses in hands-on exploration
    of natural materials.
  • Describe what they see, hear and feel
    whilst outside.
  • Say which part of the body is associated with each sense
