Plants KS1
Children identify parts of a plant an take part in activities to support identification of plants including trees.
Typical KS1 day:
10.00am – 10.45am – welcome / tour / health and safety
10.45am – 11.15am – Dig up a plant. Discuss parts of a plant including roots. Possibly label parts. Recreate parts of a plant using natural / found materials.
11.15am – 11.45am – identify plants on the island.
11.45am – 12.45pm – lunch to include s’mores cooked over the fire
12.45pm – 1.45pm – Trees are plants too. Meet a tree game, identify some different trees.
1.45pm – plenary and walk back to bus
Possible learning objectives:
- identify and name a variety of common wild plants, including deciduous and evergreen trees
- identify and describe the basic structure of common flowering plants, including trees
