Wheels – KS1

Children find out which shape is best for a wheel, explore different surfaces and make waterwheels.
“Excellent!” (Year 1 teacher)
Typical day:
10.00am – 10.45am – welcome / tour / health and safety
10.45am – 11.30am – Why is a wheel round? Test wheel shapes to find the most effective for a moving vehicle.
11.15am – 12noon – Do different surfaces affect how wheels work? Investigation using our vehicles, including measuring distance.
12noon – 1.00pm – lunch to include s’mores cooked over the fire.
1.00pm – 1.45pm – Make waterwheels
1.45pm – plenary and walk back to bus
